What Is a Cookie?
A cookie is a small piece of data a website stores in your browser, then reads back on your next visit. Sites use them to remember things: that you're logged in, what's in your cart, or simply that you've visited before.
How ClubUnbrick Uses Cookies
ClubUnbrick's website is a static site with no logins, shopping cart, or saved preferences, so it has nothing of its own to remember, and sets no cookies. The only cookies you may encounter here come from Google Analytics, they only appear on the live site, and they only load if you accept them.
This Site's Own Cookies
None. We don't use session cookies or functionality cookies, because the site doesn't have anything that needs them: no accounts to keep you signed into, no cart to remember, no preferences to save between visits.
The one thing we do store is your answer to the cookie banner, so you aren't asked again on every page. It's kept in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, it records nothing but "accepted" or "declined" and the date, and that record itself never leaves your device. Clearing your browser's site data for clubunbrick.co removes it, and the banner comes back.
We do also send the choice itself — "accepted" or "declined," nothing else — to our own server once, at the moment you make it, so we can tell what fraction of visitors accept. It's added to a running total, not logged against you: no IP address, no cookie, and nothing that ties it back to your visit or any other one.
Google Analytics Cookies
If you accept, Google Analytics generates anonymous analytics cookies. These tell us whether or not you've visited the site before, and let us count how many individual visitors we have and how often they return.
Until you accept, Google Analytics isn't loaded at all — not switched on and ignored, but never requested, so it sets no cookies and sends nothing to Google. Decline, and any analytics cookies from a previous visit are deleted. It also only ever runs on clubunbrick.co itself, so staging and preview versions of this site never set analytics cookies whatever you choose.
How to Control and Delete Cookies
Changing Your Choice
You can change your mind at any time, and it takes one click. Use the button below, or the "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom of any page on this site, to bring the banner back and choose again. Declining after having accepted also deletes the analytics cookies already in your browser.
Browser Settings
If you prefer, you can restrict, block, or delete cookies by changing your browser settings. All modern browsers allow users to change cookie settings, typically found in the 'Preferences' or 'Options' menu of your browser.
To help you better understand these settings, here are links to the cookie settings for some common browsers:
- Cookie settings in Microsoft Edge
- Cookie settings in Firefox
- Cookie settings in Safari
- Cookie settings in Chrome
You can also opt out of Google Analytics specifically using Google's browser add-on, without affecting cookies on other sites.
For information on how to do this on the browser of your mobile phone, refer to your handset manual.
Your Rights
As a Nairobi-based company, ClubUnbrick handles cookie data in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, and, for visitors in the EEA or UK, the GDPR. See Your Data Protection Rights in our Privacy Policy for the full list of rights available to you and how to exercise them.
